In this continuation of the first video Steve Chellis, master machinist, demonstrates many additional techniques for the home machinist. The viewer will see a number of applications such as: How and when soft jaws are used; making extension and compression springs on a shop made mandrel; cutting a gear rack using shop made fixtures on the lathe; the use of external and internal tool post grinders; a demonstration and discussion of a toolpost grinder that can be made in the shop; the use of different types of collets and their application; a simple chuck stop that is easy to make; the use of parting tools for cutoff work and other applications; a discussion of the different materials used in tool bits; cutting multiple, internal metric, and left hand threads; the use of the lathe as a horizontal boring machine.
